2.5 - Updating the moveon management module

This section describes the procedure for updating the moveon management module.

1. Update principle

Each update always includes all the changes already made. If you have not carried out certain interim updates you can simply install the latest update.

When you carry out an update, all existing parameter settings are retained and all existing data is saved.

The update replaces the moveon client (file: moveon.mdb) and makes the necessary changes to the structure of your database without changing the content. Before carrying out an update we recommend that you make a backup copy of your database (SQL database or moveon_data.mdb file).

2. Downloading and installing the update

The moveon update files can be downloaded from the moveon Community website at http://moveoncommunity.qs-unisolution.com.

To install the update proceed as follows:

• Download the latest update file moveon_client_XXX.zip and save it temporarily in a local directory.
• Make sure that moveon is closed on all workstations.
• Extract the files from the zip folder to the folder on your server containing the moveon client. The new moveon client (moveon.mdb) replaces the old file in the moveon folder.
• Start the new moveon client (moveon.mdb). In the first window select the language and confirm your choice. In the next window specify the details relating to your moveon database. If you are using an SQL database, you should specify the data for connecting to the database. If you are using an MS Access database, simply confirm or change the access path to the moveon_data.mdb file suggested by moveon. Once the login window appears you can close moveon.
• If the moveon client is installed locally on each workstation, you will need to update the client on each workstation by means of the corresponding shortcut. The old moveon client will no longer work.

This completes the update. You can now carry on using moveon as usual.

3. Warranty

Whenever QS unisolution releases an update, the QS unisolution software warranty applies only to the new software version.
